Anyone can be at risk of the dreaded split ends. Even if you don’t treat your hair with chemicals, you may still experience this unyielding problem.
Hair experts considered it as the number 1 complaint of their clients when they come to their shop for a cut.
There are home remedies for split ends that you can use. They are safer because they can naturally bring back those protective outer layers of the hair cuticle.
Apart from cutting those roughed ends, there are things that you can do to improve the hair condition and prevent more splits.
- Apply leave-in conditioner.
You won’t notice the effects immediately after the first application. However, it can provide extra protection to your strands while you style your hair.
To make it more effective, you should apply it after every wash. Your hair must be towel-dried to get the best results.
Use leave-in conditioner designed to correct split ends.
- Use the banana pack.
If you don’t like the first home remedy, then you might want to try combining ripe banana, curd, lemon juice and rosewater and create an effective home remedy for split ends.
Simply, mash the ripe banana and add 2 tablespoons of curd. Then, add lemon juice and rosewater to make a paste. Apply the paste directly to the hair. Leave the mixture on the hair for 1 hour before rinsing.
There’s no specific variety of banana that you must use, as long as it’s ripe.
- Use nourishing oils.
Our hair has natural oils but because of the many things that we apply, those oils tend to reduce in number causing the hair to split.
Gather mustard oil, castor oil and olive oil. Mix them all in a clean bowl. Then, massage your hair with the mixture. Cover your hair using a clean towel. Let it stay there for about 30 minutes before rinsing with water.
- Repair the damage using honey and egg mixture.
Honey contains high amount of vitamin C, which your hair needs for nourishment. The protein content of egg will provide extra strength to your hair strands. Combine these two and you’ll get an effective home remedy for split ends.
Add 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of honey. You may also use ½ cup of milk. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it there for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing.
Apart from alleviating split ends, this remedy will also make your hair smoother and shinier.
As previously mentioned, these home remedies for split ends don’t offer immediate results. Repair will take time before noticing any difference.
While waiting for it to happen, you should limit further damage to your hair by avoiding hair treatments, like perms, highlights, and hair color. These contain chemicals that can cause trauma to your hair strands resulting in split ends.
You should also consider getting regular cuts. Regular cuts will prevent split ends from happening again. Get a trim at least every 6 weeks.
