Use good toothpaste made with organic ingredients and avoid popular commercial toothpaste brands that are laden with chemicals. Look for one that is designed to prevent the occurrence of gingivitis.

Supplements & medications

A vitamin C deficiency may also cause your gums trouble; therefore, it would be advisable to start taking supplements immediately. If you are taking any medications for another illness, consult your doctor about the side effects. Sometimes, something as harmless as birth-control pills may also cause gum inflammation.

Review your brushing technique

Aloe Vera gel

Spread the aloe vera gel on your toothbrush and gently massage the gums with it.

Turmeric

Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. 

Turmeric helps with pain and inflammation linked with gum disease by preventing the action of a gene that produces gum-irritating chemicals.

Make a turmeric paste. Wet a pinch of turmeric powder in water or vitamin E oil and rub it nightly to the affected areas. You can also roll the paste into gauze or cotton ball and tuck it in your mouth.

Garlic

Garlic is great alternative treatment for any gum pain or tooth ache.  Garlic produces allicin, which is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compound that may relieve the pain.

Make a paste. Crush the clove of garlic, add 1 tsp. of olive oil. Add this paste directly to the painful gum area. leave it there for 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Garlic will increase circulation to the area, relieves pain, and helps to fight any possible infections.
